Mountain Leader (Summer) training.

The Mountain Leader (ML) award qualifies
individuals to lead a group of hill walkers anywhere in the UK under summer conditions.


To attend this course all participants must have be registered for the ML scheme with one of the following Home Boards:-

Mountain Leader (ML) Refresher Weekends


This is a concentrated weekend course aimed at candidates who are finalising their performance prior to attending the ML summer assessment and for ML award holders who wish to keep up to date with new techniques and industry best practice. Due to the nature of candidates attending the course, the course contents is based on individual needs and requirements, in previous courses, the following subjects have been covered, Practical night navigation, micro and macro navigation, emergency rope work, route finding and party management, your requirements will direct the course program.

To enable full benefit of this course we can guarantee that your trainer will be an experienced and current assessor within the ML (summer) scheme.

Weekends
Price: £125

Price Includes accommodation on a bed only basis.(based in a comfortable Mountain Bunkhouse with Central kitchen, drying room, with hot and cold showers/ water). All in course transport requirements.


Mountain Leader Training (Summer)


This is  a practical based coursed with some indoor theory sessions to support the practical sessions. All major aspect of the ML syllabus will be covered over the week, particularly Navigation in limited visibility, Mountain Hazards, Movement over steep terrain and emergency use of rope, weather prediction, camp craft including overnight camp, access and conservation, Group and party management, choice of clothing and equipment.

Price includes, accommodation: centrally located for local amenities, all meals, transport to and from venues.
Not included in price, travel to and from course, registration fees for national Governing Body awards


 
First Aid Training

Emergency First Aid

This two day practical course for people who work or use the outdoors for leisure. This is a H&SE approved person qualification it is recognised as the minimum requirement for MLTUK ML winter & summer and SPA award qualifications. Suitable for other National Governing Body awards such as RYA, BCU, BOF. No previous first aid experience required.

Health & Safety Executive First At Work New Three day Course)

A three day practical course culminating in a formal written and practical assessment. The course syllabus is based on the H&SE recommendations with the core theory being based on remote and lone workers in the outdoors. This qualification is appropriate for anyone working as a Mountain Instructor, MIA, MIC etc. This award more then exceeds minimum requirements for ML winter &summer, SPA and other governing body awards.
